Louisiana Cops Plan for “End of the World” Scenario

Police in Louisiana’s Bossier Parish are training for an “end of the world” scenario, according to the Shreveport Times. The program is dubbed “Operation Exodus,” inspired in part from the Book of Exodus in the Bible.

Parish Sheriff Larry Deen told the newspaper the “buck stops” with him. “The liability stops with Larry Deen. I am the chief law enforcement officer in this parish, and it is incumbent upon me [to] protect all of the people in it,” the officer said, referring to himself in the third person.

Deen’s plan is to protect Bossier Parish’s vital resources, like food and gasoline, in the event of a catastrophic event, such as war or a terrorist attack. Deen said he had been thinking of the plan since the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, reports Drew Pierson.

Under Deen’s plan, the police will use volunteers, supplemented with active public safety personnel, that will be dispatched to vital areas in Bossier to protect them from looters and rioters. Deen listed as examples grocery stores, gas stations, hospitals and other public meeting places.

Instead of normal riot equipment such as shields and batons, the volunteers will be armed with shotguns and have access to a .50-caliber machine gun mounted on a vehicle dubbed “the war wagon.” On February 20, the volunteers were trained in hand-to-hand combat techniques.

“I think every public safety agency should be prepared for disaster response,” said Sandy Davis, director of the Caddo-Bossier Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness.

In 2008, respected trends forecaster Gerald Celente predicted food riots, squatter rebellions, tax revolts and job marches by 2012. “America’s going to go through a transition the likes of which no one is prepared for,” said Celente. “It’s going to be very bleak. Very sad. And there is going to be a lot of homeless, the likes of which we have never seen before. Tent cities are already sprouting up around the country and we’re going to see many more.”

IMF boss Dominique Strauss-Kahn has also warned there will be food riots and unrest in response to what Celente calls The Greatest Depression. “Strauss-Kahn argued that government efforts to tackle the economic downturn so far have been uncertain and largely insufficient, which could lead to severe consequences,” The Guardian reported.

Warfare training drills “are taking place across the country as numerous public figures, including Senator Christopher Dodd, leading economist Nouriel Roubini, top trend researcher Gerald Celente, the head of the International Monetary Fund, the head of the World Trade Organization, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, former national security director Zbigniew Brzezinski, and Director of National Intelligence Dennis C. Blair have all warned of coming civil unrest and global instability,” Paul Joseph Watson wrote on March 2, 2009.

Celente predicted riots and unrest on during a Fox News broadcast  in November, 2008

“Widespread civil violence inside the United States would force the defense establishment to reorient priorities in extremis to defend basic domestic order and human security,” a study produced by the U.S. Army War College’s Strategic Institute predicted in late 2008. Economic collapse, terrorism and disruption of legal order could require deployment of forces within the U.S., it said.

In response to the report, state and local police in Arizona told the Phoenix Business Journal they have broad plans to deal with social unrest, including trouble resulting from economic distress. “The Phoenix Police Department is not expecting any civil unrest at this time, but we always train to prepare for any civil unrest issue. We have a Tactical Response Unit that trains continually and has deployed on many occasions for any potential civil unrest issue,” Phoenix Police spokesman Andy Hill told the newspaper on December 17, 2008.

Prior to the Super Bowl in December, 2008, Arizona police coordinated training with the Department of Homeland Security and the Pentagon’s Northern Command.

Northern Command is specifically tasked with implementing martial law under Continuity of Government. The Military Commissions Act of 2006 voided restrictions placed on the military to support civilian administration by the Posse Comitatus Act, the latter restricting the military from working with local law enforcement. In addition to the Military Commissions Act of 2006, a 1994 U.S. Defense Department Directive (DODD 3025) allows military commanders to take emergency actions in domestic situations.

The exercise held in Louisiana’s Bossier Parish is but another example that police departments and officials around the country are taking seriously the inevitability of civil unrest as the economy continues to unravel.

Unemployment in the United States is currently over 20% and a record number of people are on food stamps. The share of the unemployed who lost their jobs permanently is at its highest level since at least 1967, the first year for which the Labor Department has these numbers available, according to The New York Times.

Meanwhile, the establishment tells us the worst is over. “The mainstream economics profession is guilty of dereliction of duty. They should be telling people that this ‘recovery’ is a scam. They should be warning investors that the markets could fall apart any day,” writes Bill Bonner for The Christian Science Monitor.

“I see growing signs of desperation and anger as the wealth of this nation continues to get transferred to the elite of this nation,” notes Seeking Alpha. “People are starting to ‘lose’ it as a result. This past week’s airplane event in Austin was a disturbing development. I must admit that I really am not surprised. The government shouldn’t be either.”

The government is directly responsible for the unfolding economic catastrophe. Instead of throwing out the banksters and providing sound money, they are preparing for food riots and martial law.

The “debt based monetary system, controlled and operated by the global central banking system, of which the apex is the Bank for International Settlements, is unsustainable,” writes Andrew Gavin Marshall. “This is the real bubble, the debt bubble. When it bursts, and it will burst, the world will enter into the Greatest Depression in world history.”

Even Goldman Sachs, responsible for ransacking the economy, predicts doom. “I see nothing but large increases in the deficit,” Goldman Sachs chairman John Whitehead told Reuters way back in 2008. “I just want to get people thinking about this, and to realize this is a road to disaster. I’ve always been a positive person and optimistic, but I don’t see a solution here.”

Short of dismantling the Federal Reserve and arresting and prosecuting the bankers, there is no solution short of training police to shoot starving food rioters and declaring martial law.

Ramping up Afghanistan war to control Caspian oil and gas transport routes

Jerry Mazza
Online Journal
December 8, 2009

The 800-pound gorilla standing in the auditorium at West Point is still waiting for an answer to why Obama made his surge-speech for 30,000 more troops and $30 billion to pay for them. That gorilla wonders “why” Obama pitched so hard for the US to stay and surge through Afghanistan and Pakistan. The reasons given were that the Afghanistan Taliban and Al Qaeda led by Osama bin Laden were the people that attacked us on 9/11, which was an iteration of George W. Bush’s reasons for the War on Terror. They are as phony now as the day Bush promised to smoke out Bin Laden.

But, here are Obama’s actual words, pointed out by Christopher Bollyn on page 2 of his article, Why Afghanistan?

“1. I am convinced that our security is at stake in Afghanistan and Pakistan. This is the epicenter of the violent extremism practiced by al-Qaeda. It is from here that we were attacked on 9/11, and it is from here that new attacks are being plotted as I speak.

“2. It is important to recall why America and our allies were compelled to fight a war in Afghanistan in the first place. We did not ask for this fight. On September 11, 2001, 19 men hijacked four airplanes and used them murder nearly 3,000 people.

“3: If I did not think that the security of the United States and the safety of the American people were at stake in Afghanistan, I would gladly order every single one of our troops home tomorrow.”

Also, as early as Oct. 14, 2001, a month and three days after 9/11, Bollyn wrote in The Great Game – The War For Caspian Oil And Gas: “President Bush’s ‘crusade’ against the Taliban of Afghanistan has more to do with control of the immense oil and gas resources of the Caspian Basin than it does with ‘rooting out terrorism.’

“Once again an American president from the Bush family is leading Americans down an oil-rich Middle Eastern warpath against ‘enemies of freedom and democracy.’

“President George W. Bush, whose family is well connected to oil and energy companies, has called for an international crusade against Islamic terrorists, who he says hate Americans simply because we are ‘the brightest beacon of freedom.’

“The focus on religion-based terrorism serves to conceal important aspects of the Central Asian conflict. President Bush’s noble rhetoric about fighting for justice and democracy is masking a less noble struggle for control of an estimated $5 trillion of oil and gas resources from the Caspian Basin.

Limbaugh Admits the Obvious: Osama bin Laden is Dead

American’s Journey
December 1, 2009

Rush Limbaugh admits he believes Osama bin Laden is dead on todays show – plus Thom Hartmann DRG interview – so what is the mission in AFPAKistan?

Given: The news today that our peaceful President Obama is sending a bunch more troops to AFPAKistan to die for nothing as in the following article:

“Obama will try to sell a skeptical public on his bigger, costlier war plan Tuesday by coupling the large new troop infusion with an emphasis on stepped-up training for Afghan forces that he says will allow the U.S. to leave.

Obama formally ends a 92-day review of the war in Afghanistan Tuesday night with a nationally broadcast address in which he will lay out his revamped strategy from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, N.Y. He began rolling out his decision Sunday night, informing key administration officials, military advisers and foreign allies in a series of private meetings and phone calls that stretched into Monday.”

As the realization dawned on me that yes, indeed, we really are going to continue this AFPAK war based on falsehoods – I decided to take a drive and listen to what the pundits on AM radio had to say. My expectations – the leftys would come up with all kinds of excuses to explain why the President of Peace is morphing into just another Wager of War. The righties would ignore the fact that they started this loser of a war and find ways to pin it on the Democrats. But now – Obama has no way out – instead of ending it – he’s getting right in line making the right-wing propaganda stick. Although the following is disorganized – it matches the jumble of memories as I flipped through the various stations – left and right wing.

I’m almost embarrassed to admit listening to the Rush Limbaugh show because the propagandistic nature of it is so obvious to me. Rush is a divider helping maintain the Demopublican vs. Republicrat paradigm that is keeping the American public frustratingly paralyzed- but some sick curiosity within me made me listen to his drivel anyway. Today – on an AM station here in Charlottesville, Virginia at 13:29 Rush said he believes bin Laden is dead – killed at Tora Bora. This was during a rant to his flock saying something to the effect that one should vote Republican and not consider switching to the independent party because third parties are just people standing in a room together shouting while getting nothing done. So, Rush, let’s hear you educate us some more from your excellence in bullshitting network – what is the mission in Afghanistan? What is the mission in the AFPAK war? Are they the same? By the way – how is “getting nothing done” different from what is going on now? By ‘nothing’ I refer to the interests of the non-super-rich in America. You’ll never hear answers to these questions on Rush’s propagandathon – just like you’ll never hear any complete truths or facts from him. His show is light on facts – heavy on red meat blather.

Another AM radio propaganda show, starring right wing shill Fred Thompson, attempted to blame this nightmare on Obama. While answering a caller he said Democrats can’t keep bringing up the past – “lead” he said as he referred to Obama taking over the Bushies war in Afghanistan – which – remember – was to “smoke’em out” (bin Laden). Whew – after all those years of guys just like him blaming Clinton for everything under the sun this idiotic blather almost made me puke. I guess we’ll have to wait for Obama to tell us the reason our troops need to spend Christmas fighting in an unconquerable land.

Consider this NY times article CLICK HERE where we see the original excuses we were given to embark on a disaster:

“But we’re going to smoke them out,” he said.

“The Taleban,” he said, referring to the fundamentalist rulers of Afghanistan, “must take my statements seriously.”

Mr. Bush, who visited the Pentagon as military planners were preparing call-up orders for 35,000 reservists, said the military was prepared to pay “any cost” as it mounted a long and difficult campaign against terror.

His comments appeared in part spontaneous, reflecting a rage that seems to have been building for days, and that aides say was stoked by the horror he witnessed Friday on his visit to New York. “I want justice,” he said. “There’s an old poster out West that said, ‘Wanted, dead or alive.”

Later in the same article:

“Secretary of State Colin Powell said that “all roads lead to” Mr. bin Laden as the man behind the four hijackings that yielded the destruction of the World Trade Center in New York, the attack on the Pentagon and a death total exceeding 5,000.

He praised Pakistan for sending envoys to demand that the Taleban government in Afghanistan, which believed to be sheltering Mr. bin Laden, hand him over.”

Seems pretty clear to me that the Republicans started this mess …so what is the mission in AFPAKistan? back to the radio…

A left-wing show host, Stephanie Miller, reacted a little to the news that Obama is sending more of our troops to die for some undefinable reason, but the show was so infantile I just turned it off. I’m sorry Stephanie – I know you have to appeal to your audience – and I know you have to get ratings – but by Jupiter your gonna’ have to get tough on these “statesmen” or we’re all gonna’ go down together. Maybe I’m overestimating the audience. Don’t know. I will say Stephanie sounded a bit stunned and at a loss when grasping for reasons to continue supporting our new rock star prez. Maybe the “rock” in his star is in reference to the terrain of Afghanistan. Oh well, I can’t get too harsh with Stephanie – after all she called for the execution of sh*tbaugh – on Larry King. Click here where she’s beat up for making this comment which was probably a joke. Hell I thought it was funny. My problem with her call for his execution is I didn’t hear anything about a trial first.

…so what is the mission in Afghanistan? I’ve stated in the past that Osama bin Laden has been dead since 2001. Not too long ago people like myself were laughed at for making such assertions based on the research done by David Ray Griffin in his book  Osama bin Laden Dead or Alive?

Finally – I heard a bit of the beginning of the Thom Hartmann show – he stated that he isn’t giving up on Obama yet. Geez Thom – what on Earth is it going to take? I will, however, say thanks to Thom Hartmann for showing the courage to conduct the following interview of David Ray Griffin which I suggest you listen to. There are more like it – see No Lies radio link on left side of this page. Here’s the Hartmann interview – thanks again Thom.

So – what is the mission in AFPAKistan? If bin Laden is indeed dead – we have a ‘disconnect’ – a disconnect with reality. Unless the mission has more to do with Opium and a purported pipeline. Once one takes into consideration more covert motives, the exercise in futility, the butcher shop that is Afghanistan, begins to take shape. And it doesn’t seem to have anything to do with capturing a dead guy.

What can we learn from all of this? We all need to talk – especially with those we disagree with. As long as everybody keeps talking I think we’ll be alright. The old saying is “Divide and Conquer” – it is no secret we are divided. Let’s listen to why this phony war must be continued, write it down, then hold them accountable – and that may mean trials.

Democrats in revolt over Barack Obama’s troop surge

Christina Lamb
Times Online
November 29, 2009

Barack Obama’s much-vaunted eloquence faces the biggest test of his presidential career this week when he takes to the stage at West Point military academy to explain to a nation that thought it had elected an anti-war president why he is escalating the conflict in Afghanistan.

After almost three months of agonising, nine war councils and endless leaks, the president will finally make his views known on Tuesday when he is expected to announce that he is sending about 30,000 more troops. This will push up American forces to 100,000 and the total number of allied forces to almost 140,000, as many troops as the Soviet Union had in Afghanistan.

“You Have to Learn Lessons from History”

Cindy Sheehan
Cindy Sheehan’s Soapbox
September 16, 2009

I was just watching a report on CNN and after the commentator said that support for Afghanistan is rapidly dwindling (58 percent now think it’s not worth fighting), an interview with Obama was shown.

The interviewer asked the president if he was afraid that because war-weary America is growing impatient with the wars, that failing to withdraw and, in fact, sending more troops would look like what Johnson did in Vietnam, and therefore make Obama a “One term president.”

Well, I have been saying that whoever won in 2008 would not do the right thing and would send the USA even farther down the path to ruin (because every president has to follow orders from his masters, the corporations) and be a one term president.

But, Obama incredibly answered the interviewer with: “You have to learn lessons from history.” Somehow, Obama believes, he’s going to stain his hands darker with blood, but he’s not going to pay any political consequences.

That Obama is talking about “history” in relation to trying to subdue Afghanistan is fraught with irony. First of all, the Afghanistan that was invaded in 2001 has very little resemblance to the Afghanistan of today. Many analysts say that our rationale for being there: al Qaeda has long ago moved on. What about the history that Jimmy Carter’s administration was responsible for arming, training and otherwise supporting (and creating) al Qaeda in the first place and that Jimmy Carter signed an order supporting the Mujahadeen against the USSR in 1979 which spurred the Soviet Union’s invasion that resulted in a decade long bloody war that defeated the USSR’s military empire.

  • A d v e r t i s e m e n t
  • efoods

Let’s go back to Genghis Kahn and Alexander the Great and Great Britain…no empire has ever been “successful” in Afghanistan and it really makes me wonder what “history” Barack Obama is learning from. Not the “history” where Afghanistan has been the burial place for empire, that’s for sure.

Obviously, obviously our “leaders” are out of control and there is no mass movement of Americans who will be able to get out in the streets to stop the homicidal maniacs.

We need to stop allowing ourselves to be used as weapons of mass destruction against each other and that is by refusing to join the Army of the Empire or by refusing to be deployed to the messes in the Middle East

All of this excess of the War Machine is getting fundamentally ridiculous. The cannon fodder of the US military should refuse to be used as these pawns for idiotic and ignorant Commanders in Chief. Why die or kill innocent Afghans for the arrogance of Emperors?

Bloody hands are bloody hands. Our president, love him or hate him, is a reflection of us, so as long as we quietly sit by and allow him to murder in our names, our hands get bloodier, too!

I will be one that stands up and is counted against Obama and his policies as adamantly as I was against Bush and his—because they are the same and they are wrong.

The Joke’s On You: CNN Gulf War Propaganda

Infowars
August 27, 2009

The video here — covered by Alex Jones on his radio show — simply provides more evidence much of the news is propaganda and nonsense — and the joke is on us.

CNN’s Charles Jaco makes light of a fake Scud attack during the Gulf War.

Even the foundation-supported FAIR — recipient of grants from the Rockefeller Family fund — reported that the Pentagon is intimately involved in producing the “news.”

In February, 2002, FAIR reported: “Even if the PSYOPS officers working in the newsroom did not directly influence news reporting, the question remains of whether CNN may have allowed the military to conduct an intelligence-gathering mission against the network itself.”

The Dutch newspaper Trouw and France’s Intelligence Newsletter reported in 2000 that several officers from the US Army’s 4th Psychological Operations (PSYOPS) Group at Ft. Bragg worked in the news division at CNN’s Atlanta headquarters, starting in the final days of the Kosovo War.

  • A d v e r t i s e m e n t

In the 1980s, officers from the 4th Army PSYOPS group staffed the National Security Council’s Office of Public Diplomacy (OPD), a shadowy government propaganda agency that planted stories in the U.S. media supporting the Reagan Administration’s Central America policies, according to FAIR.

“CNN has always maintained a close relationship with the Pentagon.”

In fact, the entire corporate media is a subsidiary of the ruling elite, as evidenced by the CIA’s Operation Mockingbird.

“Starting in the early days of the Cold War (late 40’s), the CIA began a secret project called Operation Mockingbird, with the intent of buying influence behind the scenes at major media outlets and putting reporters on the CIA payroll, which has proven to be a stunning ongoing success. The CIA effort to recruit American news organizations and journalists to become spies and disseminators of propaganda, was headed up by Frank Wisner, Allen Dulles, Richard Helms, and Philip Graham (publisher of The Washington Post),” writes Mary Louise for Prison Planet. “Media assets will eventually include ABC, NBC, CBS, Time, Newsweek, Associated Press, United Press International (UPI), Reuters, Hearst Newspapers, Scripps-Howard, Copley News Service, etc. and 400 journalists, who have secretly carried out assignments according to documents on file at CIA headquarters, from intelligence-gathering to serving as go-betweens. The CIA had infiltrated the nation’s businesses, media, and universities with tens of thousands of on-call operatives by the 1950’s.”

Obama Warns Soldiers Coming Days in Afghanistan Will Be “Bloody”

PHOENIX — President Obama urged more than 5,000 veterans gathered here to brace for a daunting and perhaps bloody period ahead in Afghanistan, but told them he believes this war is “fundamental to the defense of our people.”

“As I said when I announced this strategy, there will be more difficult days ahead,” the president said at the annual convention of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. “The insurgency in Afghanistan didn’t just happen overnight, and we won’t defeat it overnight. This will not be quick. This will not be easy.”

In a 35-minute speech to a group that harbors, in some cases, deep reservations about the president’s war policy, Mr. Obama took firm ownership of the long-running Afghan initiative. The speech came as Afghanistan prepares for presidential elections on Thursday.
